Code Signing - required documents

EV Code Signing Certificate

The verification process and the documents required after purchasing an EV Code Signing certificate:

To activate the EV Code Signing certificate, verification of the subscriber’s identity is required. When activating the certificate, the user selects one of the available verification methods.

The available methods of verifying the subscriber’s identity are:

  • automatic identity verification (recommended)
  • confirmation of identity at the Registration Point or at the Identity Confirmation Point (read more), sample declaration can be downloaded here
  • notarial confirmation of identity
  • photos of the identity document of the subscriber (ID card, passport, driving license, permanent residence card). Photos should present the complete document (both sides).

We can also confirm subscriber’s identity on the basis of a valid qualified certificate issued for the subscriber by Certum.

We would like to inform you that this copy will be used only for the purpose of processing the contract/order and after confirmation of your identity will not be further processed and will be immediately, permanently deleted from our database.

Additionally required

  • authorization/power of attorney confirming the subscriber’s relationship with the organization. Required only if the person applying for the certificate is not authorized to represent the institution on their own, e.g. on the basis of an excerpt from the National Court Register (power of attorney template)
  • utility bill (gas, electricity, water, telephone, etc.), issued for the organization
  • company registration document, when the company is not listed in the registry.

All collected documents should be sent to Certum using one of the following methods:

  • using My account at Certum store, in the Data security products tab choose the certificate and add the documents
  • by e-mail as a password-protected file sent to the address: ccp@certum.pl. Please contact the Certum technical support helpline in order to determine how to transfer the password https://www.certum.eu/en/contact/
  • by post to:

Note

  • EV Code Signing certificates cannot contain domain names or IP addresses
  • EV Code Signing certificates are issued only for organization  – they cannot be issued for an individual

Standard Code Signing Certificate

The verification process and the documents required after purchasing a Standard Code Signing certificate:

To activate the Standard Code Signing certificate, verification of the subscriber’s identity is required. When activating the certificate, the user selects one of the available verification methods.

The available methods of verifying the subscriber’s identity are:

  • automatic identity verification (recommended)
  • confirmation of identity at the Registration Point or at the Identity Confirmation Point (read more), sample declaration can be downloaded here
  • notarial confirmation of identity
  • photos of the identity document of the subscriber (ID card, passport, driving license, permanent residence card). Photos should present the complete document (both sides).

To activate the Open Source Code Signing certificate, verification of the subscriber’s identity is required. When activating the certificate, the user selects one of the available verification methods.

The available methods of verifying the subscriber’s identity are:

  • automatic identity verification (recommended)
  • confirmation of identity at the Registration Point or at the Identity Confirmation Point (read more), sample declaration can be downloaded here
  • notarial confirmation of identity
  • photos of the identity document of the subscriber (ID card, passport, driving license, permanent residence card). Photos should present the complete document (both sides).

We can also confirm subscriber’s identity on the basis of a valid qualified certificate issued for the subscriber by Certum.

Additionally required

  • website address of the ongoing Open Source project:
    The project must be publicly available and indicate clearly the subscriber’s relationship with the project. If Certum is unable to identify the project based on publicly available information, the certificate will not be issued.

All collected documents should be sent to Certum using one of the following methods:

  • using My account at Certum store, in the Data security products tab choose the certificate and add the documents
  • by e-mail as a password-protected file sent to the address: ccp@certum.pl. Please contact the Certum technical support helpline in order to determine how to transfer the password https://www.certum.eu/en/contact/

Note

  • Open Source Code Signing certificates cannot contain domain names or IP addresses
  • Open Source Code Signing are issued only for individuals
  • Issued certificate will contain „Open Source Developer” phrase added to the Common name field. Organization field will be set to „Open Source Developer”.

Validity of the documents being the basis for verification of the certificate:

  • For new orders and for renewed certificates, documents with information from public registers may not be older than 13 months
  • Authorization documents, whether they are timely or not – remain valid for 13 months from the date of issue of the certificate
  • Identity documents must be up-to-date (valid) on the day the certificate is issued.
