Changes in the verification of domains for SSL(TLS) certificates

As of May 15, due to Ballot SC-70, which aimed to clarify language related to domain and IP control verification, the requirements for domain verification have been further specified.

Here are the key points:

  • DNS Verification Methods and CAA Verification: These must be performed using authoritative DNS servers to meet manual verification requirements.
  • Authoritative DNS Servers: The list of authoritative DNS servers is obtained from the NS records defined for the domain’s root.
  • Verification Failure: If there are no NS records for the domain’s root, the verification process will automatically fail.

Additionally, please be aware that from April 23, 2024, to May 14, 2024, Certum systems will undergo staged updates to align with these requirements. If you use custom DNS record settings, this change may impact the outcome of your domain verification.
