Domain verification changes

Due to the change in industry policy regarding acceptable methods to verify domains during SSL certificate activation, please be advised that from 16 November 2021 the FILE method will not be available for Wildcard Certificate.

What does this mean?

The CA/B Forum policy changes the acceptable use of the domain validation method commonly known at Certum as the FILE method with respect to subdomain verification. The updated policy restricts the use of this method for subdomains and root domains only. This means that the FILE method will not be available for Wildcard domains.

Certum recommendations

Before the change comes into effect, we recommend reviewing other domain validation methods supported by Certum to ensure the best alternative for certificates with Wildcard domains in the application. We recommend DNS or ADMIN methods.
